How can we move through music?
Immersive audio journey
Into the Light is an immersive audio installation built on Traverse, Jessica Brillhart’s spatial audio platform—inviting participants to move through Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Unaccompanied Cello Suite No. 2 in D Minor,” performed by Yo-Yo Ma, with augmented reality artwork by Sougwen Chung.
Designed for Bose AR glasses and compatible with iPhone, the experience plays with sound across physical and virtual space—each chapter unlocked as listeners traverse the environment.
Tribeca premiere
The work premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival Immersive Arcade—an official selection of the Virtual Arcade program.
At Spring Studios, small groups accompanied by a guide moved through multiple floors wearing Bose headphones and iPhones running Traverse. Sougwen Chung’s AR artwork was woven into the actual building; participants scanned markers to begin each musical chapter, starting in the Virtual Arcade and ending on the rooftop with a view over the Tribeca neighborhood.
