How does bespoke invention become a scalable product?
The challenge
How do we turn years of bespoke invention and world-class expertise in the design, technology, and visualization space into an actionable vision for a new product—one that would transform the organization itself? The C-suite needed a clear north star and a shared way of talking about the work—what the problem is, what it solves, why they’re uniquely positioned to ship it first, and how it changes their operating model from services to product. With a brilliant team facing familiar headwinds of near zero bandwidth, the first step was to design a facilitated process—listening across department leads, then structuring work sessions that could extract answers and draft them into a coherent, executable plan.
Our impact
Our process gave the client internal alignment, a concrete plan, and a robust Product Vision Document—plus a clear path from a project-to-project service company to a scalable product business with durable revenue streams. With clarity came confidence: they now know what to build first, how it generates durable revenue, and how to explain why it matters to customers, investors, and their own teams.
To unlock that clarity, we ran structured listening sessions across leadership and contributors to craft a common language and crystallize product and customer definitions, differentiation, and a live view of current and future competition. We then shaped a right-sized MVP and tech stack, outlined the opportunity space, and built a modular three-year roadmap tied to realistic hiring and organizational growth—who should build what and when to do it. Finally, we designed a customer-facing pilot program to de-risk their path to market. We then packaged the story in an executive-facing document—plain-language narrative, visuals, and artifacts—so anyone from the C-suite to engineering can take action.
Why we loved this work
This was a perfect example of ‘together is better’. We love when we can apply both our product-minded collaboration methods and our deeply nerdy technical knowledge of design systems and virtual production. Our partner brought the talent and breakthroughs, but what they needed was orchestration—product innovation leadership, structure, and tools for navigating unknowns. Working side-by-side to clarify strategy and the practical pieces (differentiation, competitive position, opportunity sizing, hiring path) meant we could help them focus, de-risk choices, and unlock momentum. It wasn’t just a new product initiative; it was a cultural shift toward a product-based way of operating—and you could feel the future product taking shape in real time, as everyone left the room motivated and clear on what happens next.
